Pat Toomey’s Record Speaks for Itself

by Joe Stevenson

Pat Toomey went to Washington in 2011, representing Pennsylvania in the United States Senate. He coasted into office amongst the wave of the Tea Party which promised to make Barack Obama a one-term president. His voting record in the senate is a testimony to that. The following are examples of what I mean:

1. Voted against a bill to fund the VA
2. Voted against adding 1.8 billion dollars to VA health funding
3. Voted to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, but filibustered Veterans Job Act
4. Voted three times to defund the Federal Drug Administration
5. Voted three times to defund the National Institute of Bio-Medical imaging
6. Voted to defund the food stamp program (SNAP)
7. Voted against food lunches for poor children
8. Voted over thirty times to dismantle Obamacare
9. Signed letter to senate asking that confirmation of Loretta Lynch as Secretary of the Justice Department be denied
10. Signed letter to sidetrack the Iranian nuclear talks
11. Voted no for hearings on Obama’s pick to replace Antonio Scalia as Supreme Court Justice

These are just a few of Senator Patrick Toomey’s obstructionist views. Does he deserve another six years representing us in Washington? I don’t think so.
